Bringing together banking leaders, researchers, and policymakers to shape an AI-ready financial ecosystem
NAAMII convened a high-level leadership dialogue bringing together Chairpersons, CEOs, and IT leaders from Nepal’s banking sector alongside distinguished professors visiting Nepal for the Annual Nepal AI School (ANAIS) 2025. Together with Drucker Leadership Academy and Tangible Careers (NAAMII Incubated Startup), we hosted the Conclave on The Future of Leadership in the Post-AI World, focused on leadership readiness, workforce transformation, and governance in Nepal’s financial system. The conclave was inaugurated by Bam Bahadur Mishra, Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, who underscored the importance of regulatory stability, financial integrity, and disciplined leadership as AI enters the banking sector. Reflections on Nepal’s evolving banking landscape and workforce readiness were shared by Prabin Raj Pokharel and Alok Khatri (co-founder Tangible Careers), highlighting the need for structured reskilling and institutional frameworks such as the AI Pyramid. From a scientific, policy, and global standards perspective, Bishesh Khanal (Research Scientist and Director) and Prof. Virginia Dignum (Speaker at ANAIS 2025) emphasized responsible AI design, transparency, and alignment with international norms while discussions by Gaurav Pandey and Adesh Khadka explored digital infrastructure and policy preparedness. Two panel discussions anchored the day. The first, Post-AI Leadership: Building Institutional Readiness Beyond the Hype, featured Satyendra Timilsina, Suman Pokharel, and François Rameau Rameau (General Co-Chair and Speaker ANAIS 2025, Adjunt Research Scientist NAAMII), emphasizing governance, risk frameworks, and leadership commitment over rushed AI adoption. The second panel, AI Ethics and Policies: Building Trust Through Responsible Innovation, moderated by Sandhya Sitoula (Board of directors NAAMII), brought perspectives from Govinda Gurung and Dr. Ashutosh Modi (General Co-Chair and Speaker ANAIS 2025), focusing on ethics, data privacy, and Nepal’s opportunity to embed responsible guardrails as a strategic late adopter. This conclave reflects NAAMII’s commitment to building national capacity at the intersection of research, policy, and practice. In 2025 alone, we have trained over 800 banking professionals, strengthening leadership and workforce readiness for an AI-enabled future grounded in responsibility, equity, and long-term impact.
