ANAIS is NAAMII’s flagship education program—an 11-day intensive experience where world-class AI researchers come to Nepal to mentor and collaborate with a diverse group of students, academics, and professionals.
From Learning to Launching AI Futures
Through lectures, hands-on labs, and hackathons, participants explore both foundational and cutting-edge topics in AI. Beyond a program, ANAIS has grown into a vibrant community, serving as the origin for many startups and research projects. Started in 2018, ANAIS has since united a vibrant and growing network of researchers and alumni committed to advancing AI research and fostering a culture of shared learning.
The Vision Behind ANAIS
AI leaders can come from anywhere—places with untapped potential like Nepal too—if they have access to world-class mentorship and practical experience. ANAIS bridges that gap by connecting aspiring AI talent with global expertise, creating networks of people, and providing the resources needed to succeed. At its heart, ANAIS is fueled by a bold mission: to strengthen AI research capacity, build lasting pathways for emerging talent, and inspire a new generation of scientists, thinkers, and innovators.
What We Teach?
The ANAIS curriculum covers from foundational AI concepts to course specializations, designed for a focused and comprehensive learning experience. Over the course of 11 days, participants engage with:
- Core foundations such as mathematics, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and AI applications across diverse domains like vision, natural language, machine learning, marketing, energy, and robotics.
- Learning Approach: In addition to lectures, the program emphasizes hands-on learning and community building. Renowned faculty members lead live coding labs, and students and faculty get informal spaces to interact, share ideas, and build lasting relationships over hikes and dinners.
- Beyond the Curriculum: Participants gain a transformative sense of what’s possible in AI. They bring their experiences back to their communities, through research, projects, and even startups, many of which are currently being incubated in NAAMII.
In the past four editions of the Annual Nepal AI School (ANAIS) organized by NAAMII, we've welcomed over 500 participants and 60 distinguished speakers from 35+ countries around the world. For our Fourth Edition as well, we are set to invite some influential people and world-class experts from some of the leading research labs, organizations, and universities.
