NAAMII participated in the 4th National Telemedicine & 1st National Digital Health Conference, held on 23–24 January 2026 in Kathmandu, contributing to discussions on the role of artificial intelligence in strengthening digital health systems and improving maternal healthcare access in Nepal.
Organized by the Telemedicine Society of Nepal (TMSoN) and the Digital Health Forum Nepal, the conference brought together policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, technologists, and innovators to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing in telemedicine and digital health.
During the conference, Ranjana Koirala, Research Project Manager at NAAMII, presented the ongoing research project titled “AI-powered Task-Shifting for High-Quality Fetal Ultrasound Services in Community Healthcare Settings.”
The presentation highlighted how responsible, research-driven AI can support frontline health workers by improving access to quality diagnostic services, particularly in resource-constrained communities. The research demonstrates the potential of AI to enable scalable, human-centered healthcare solutions while supporting healthcare professionals in decision-making.
NAAMII’s participation reflects its commitment to advancing responsible AI research that addresses real-world challenges in healthcare. Through collaboration across research, policy, and practice, NAAMII continues to contribute toward building equitable and sustainable digital health systems in Nepal.
